This is not a high fence property and the hunting on North Mountain is part of the ranching operations of the Hughes family. We stake our success on providing parts of the ranch as sanctuary areas for the wildlife and never go in these areas to hunt. We have been very successful in hunting the perimeter of these safe areas as well as water holes and wallows. This practice has provided excellent opportunities to take nice bulls and bucks. Although we have taken many bulls over 300 inches, we discourage calling this a "trophy hunt" . Many of our clients are new or novice hunters and we always get them a opportunity for a nice legal bull. The larger bulls are there but it requires the physical ability to get the job done and it is not always easy or successful but it is always a lot of fun. The earlier camps (archery, muzzleloader and first rifle) get the benefit of the rut and of the game not having been generally harassed by hunting activity prior to camp. The second and third season rifle camps are less expensive because of that, however we also see a large increase of migration elk due to hunting pressure on the surrounding public and private land. The most common statement from people who have hunted with us over the years is that they have never seen so many elk in one place.

Our Hunts
All of our hunts include five days of hunting on a one guide per two hunters basis. All camps are limited to four hunters and will include lodging, meals for all hunt days plus the day before and after the hunt for arrival/departure. We also include transportation to and from the Montrose Regional Airport if needed. Price does not include licenses or game processing fees.
